Shifting Perspectives

Sunday Morning. Quiet Sunday morning. There were few people around and my camera was for a time, lonelier for it. My street photography relies on people to bring some interest and this morning there were few people around to warrant lifting my camera up to my eye. But I realised that this could be a good opportunity to try something new. Taking a leaf from Patrick Laroque and Kyle McDougall, I focused on scenes uncommon to me. Ok, I did sneak a familiar shot in there at the end.

I especially love the second shot of the lamp by the side of a villa. I did a few more angles of this scene, focusing on the shadow of the lamp. In a very contradictory way, I wish I could capture the shadow without the lamp. But as with life, we won’t appreciate happy without sadness. No high without the low.
On a separate note, I was chuffed to find out Sean Tucker uses the same approach to photo book layout as I do.
