Polka Dots

Lunch time when Iā€™m in the city is always an adventure. So many options for food and also so many opportunities to pair it with photography. Lunch earlier this week was Vietnamese at Palm Vietnamese on Graham Street. I adore their Bun Nem, friend spring rolls with rice noodles and vegetables, the crispy rolls pairing beautifully with fresh vegetables and a light nuoc namh sauce. The restaurant is across the road, up the hill, just above a nondescript multi storey car park.

Fully satisfied after lunch, I decided to walk down the stairs rather than take the funky smelling lift. Photography is a series of chance encounters initiated by the first act of stepping out with a camera. On this afternoon, sunlight streamed in, lighting up the stairwell and create a series on interesting patterns on the stairs.

Polka dots are fun. Usually they are featured in a whimsical colour pattern. But with saturation and colour minimised, they stand out nicely to accentuate everyday things. Round a next flight of stairs, I saw this scene which made a contrast to the busy scene with multiple dots.

Four dots. Like a cross on top of a church.
